How to Control a Downhill Chip

By March 31, 2016May 5th, 2018Blog, Golf

Terry from Tewantin in Noosa wrote in our Facebook Group (which you can join) at www.Facebook.com/Groups/The19thHoleClub saying he is having some issues with his downhill chips; he’s scared he’s going to overrun it, and he’d like to know: how do you stop the ball?

As part of Golf University’s weekly “Tip from the Pro” I videoed Craig Maclean at the Moonah Links Golf Resort in Victoria where he teaches us:

  • How to use the surrounding roughage to slow the ball down, rather than bouncing it straight onto the green
  • Why we should use the most lofted golf club for these shots

And …

  • Why we should have a few practice swings prior to the shot

Which will ultimately…

  • Allow us to have more control over those downhill chips and not overshoot it
