How to Control a Downhill Chip

By March 31, 2016May 5th, 2018Blog, Golf

Terry from Tewantin in Noosa wrote in our Facebook Group (which you can join) at saying he is having some issues with his downhill chips; he’s scared he’s going to overrun it, and he’d like to know: how do you stop the ball?

As part of Golf University’s weekly “Tip from the Pro” I videoed Craig Maclean at the Moonah Links Golf Resort in Victoria where he teaches us:

  • How to use the surrounding roughage to slow the ball down, rather than bouncing it straight onto the green
  • Why we should use the most lofted golf club for these shots

And …

  • Why we should have a few practice swings prior to the shot

Which will ultimately…

  • Allow us to have more control over those downhill chips and not overshoot it
